Maternitec

Welcome To Maternitec

Every pregnant woman is told to pay attention to her baby’s movements.
Nobody has built the device to do it.

At Maternitec, we are developing wearable technology that will provide information and insights into baby’s movements over day and night, and over the entire third trimester.

About The Maternitec Journey

A baby’s kicks in the womb are a joyful sign of life within. However, anxiety about fetal movements is very common among pregnant women – our research has shown that 78% of expectant moms feel anxious about their baby’s movements. Maternal sensation of fetal movements can vary a lot between women and even between pregnancies. The FeMo tracker provides an objective measure of fetal movements to support women’s intuition and strengthen their connection with their little one.

The FeMo tracker will provide personalised insights that help expectant mothers tune into their baby’s unique movement patterns. By combining accurate, data-driven feedback with expectant parents’ own intuition, we will empower pregnant women to trust their instincts, ask informed questions and confidently advocate for their care.

Our mission is to support better pregnancy outcomes, and better pregnancy experiences, through home monitoring of fetal wellbeing.

Evidence Supporting Fetal Activity Tracking

Introduction of Count the Kicks app in Iowa associated with reduction in stillbirth not seen in neighbouring states

63% of stillbirths are preceded by changes in fetal movement

78% of pregnant people experience anxiety about fetal movements

Regular kick counting increases knowledge of movement patterns, reduces anxiety and increases maternal bonding

Changes in fetal movements can predict fetal complications

Digital tools can be part of the solution for maternal health inequalities

Advanced Pregnancy Monitoring Technology

Maternitec is built on a strong foundation of biomedical engineering, and regulated clinical research. Our technology is developed to meet the highest standards of safety, accuracy, and reliability.

Working Prototype

Developed systems including proprietary hardware, secure cloud infrastructure, advanced AI-based algorithms and a mobile app for users.

Two Clinical Studies

Successfully conducted two clinical studies to validate technology performance and develop our patent-pending movement and pattern detection algorithm

Extensive Data Collection:

- Collected 10,000+ hours of recorded data from 100 pregnant women
- Full third trimester coverage
- Recorded >25,000 maternally labelled “ground-truth” fetal movements
